Announcing the Winner of Our 2026 Helping the Injured Scholarship

Posted in Uncategorized

We are proud to announce that Jade McMillan is the recipient of this year’s Helping the Injured Scholarship. Each year this award gives us the chance to recognize a student who understands, as we do, that helping injured people is one of the most meaningful things a person can dedicate themselves to. Jade’s application reflected that understanding with real sincerity, and we are honored to support the next step in that journey.

About the Scholarship

The Helping the Injured Scholarship is a $1,000 award created by our founder, attorney Don Yearin, to support the education of a student who is dedicated to helping injured people. Unlike many lawyers, Don truly enjoys his work as a personal injury attorney, and he takes pride in helping injured people and their families recover physically, emotionally, and financially after a serious accident. He understands the value of that work, and he wanted to encourage others to focus their education and careers on the same goal.

Don also recognizes that help comes in many forms. Attorneys are only one part of a much larger community of people who support the injured, and he believes that backing a student committed to that mission is a positive contribution to that community. The scholarship is open to high school seniors as well as undergraduate, graduate, and professional students across the United States who can demonstrate, through a personal essay, their commitment to helping people who are hurt.

Recognizing Jade McMillan

Jade’s essay stood out for an honest and personal definition of what it means to help. For Jade, that commitment did not begin in a hospital or a law office. It began at home, caring for family members as they recovered from surgery, and it grew into a broader belief that healing requires reassurance, respect, and the simple reminder that no one has to face their struggles alone. Jade went on to serve that mission in the community and to advocate for people who are too often overlooked or left without a voice. In the essay, Jade drew a thoughtful connection between that goal and the work we do, and it captured exactly the spirit this scholarship was created to honor.
